How I do I reduce the pressure on a combi boiler system?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

I repressurised the system yesterday and forgot to turn the valves back again. As a result the pressure is now between 2 and 3 when cold and almost at the highest level (4) when I turn the heating on. What can I do to reduce the pressure?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Open a bleed valve on a rad and draw off excess water that way. Do it when the boiler is cold.

The Band Committee of 100 people wishes to set up a telephone call system?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

Could someone help me with this word problem?

The Band Committee of 100 people wishes to set up a telephone call system. The initial contact person calls three other people, each of whom call three others and so on, until all the people in the Band Committee have been contacted. What is the maximum number of people they need to make the calls.

If you aren’t sure how to do this mathematically, it’s easy to do with a simple diagram.

The first person calls 3 people. (1×3) – 3 calls so far
Those 3 people in turn call 9 people. (3×3) – 12 calls total
Those 9 people in turn call 27 people 3×9) – 39 calls total
Those 27 people in turn would call 81 people except that you’d go over the 100 call mark. So 7 of the 27 will make 3 calls and the other 20 will only make 2 calls – 61 calls + previous 39 calls = 100

So 27+9+3+1=40 people would be the maximum number required to make the 100 calls.

How can I easily change the input to my stereo system?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

I have a stereo system (CD player, tape decks, etc) attatched to my speakers, with red+white input in the back of it.

Can I purchase some kind of hub with multiple red+white inputs in – that I can plug my ipod / laptop / TV into simultaneously, and a switch to flip between them – which has a single output that I can plug straight into my stereo?

Thanks!

Actually yes, You can buy an A/V switcher that has 3 or 4 inputs, You would obviosusly not connect the yellow (video) cable to the device. Just the audio ( Red and Whites) to each different position on the device. 1 set will be outputs that you will connect to the input of your stereo system. Then you would use this switch box to switch between the sources, depending on what you want to use. The only alternative is to buy an audio "mixer" but that can be a lot more expensive Remember that for the ipod and the laptop will require adaptors from phono plugs to RCA style plugs as the switcher will not accept phono (single male type plugs)

Buying an surround system but also want to use it for music will it have good music sound?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

I am planning on buying a surround system, but I listen too music as well and I don’t want garbage music sound because I have a surround system…
Are there any home theater systems that also have proper quality audio for music? Could those home theater systems have the option for Dolby True HD/ PCM sound?
If, which brands offer these qualities?
I was thinking maybe JBL offers that?

Thanks :)
My budget is 300-400 euro’s exl. cables
Third responder, well then which receiver/ speakers would you suggest?

Paradigm makes some great stuff. Their Cinema series, while fine with movies, did not impress me when it came to music. Their Monitor series is jaw dropping with music & movies. Dolby TrueHD is a marketing gimmick, and is not needed. Depending on your budget, there are numerous options to drive a system, starting with receivers, and ending with seperates. A starting model is a Denon AVR-1610 ($400), and a high-end setup is a Parasound NewClassic setup (Parasound Model 7100, and Parasound Model 5125 for $5000). Everything depends on the budget. For about $1300 you can get the Denon mentioned previously and

What is the best security system for my computer?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

I need help selecting a security system for my computer.
Please include the name of it, price, and any additional details you see as important!

I already did research on Norten, so no information on that.

Thank You.

There are a few choices when it comes to security, mainly in the AntiVirus department. Some very good, free anti-viruses available to download are:

1) AVG 8 AntiVirus. Easiest interface to use, very fast scanning and doesn’t lag your computer at all. Only has a 76% detection rate, but catches the most harmful of viruses. If you’re a normal home user, you’re not in too much danger of higher level viruses and this is the AV for you:

http://www.free.grisoft.com

2) Avast! 4 AntiVirus. Smaller, sleeker skin, average scanning speed, but reports alot of safe files as viruses, so you might need to watch out for that. 78% detection rate, but alot more complicated than most other free AVs. Use this if you are handy with a computer and you know what needs to be scanned:

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

3) Avira AntiVirus. Simple layout, which even the most basic of users can navigate. Incredibly fast scanning, with a 90% detection rate. Not as easy on the eyes as other AVs, and you need to know what you’re doing to get the more advanced features, but it is definite a candidate:

http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html

Personally I use AVG, but only because I go for the easier interface. If you are paranoid about viruses then the only real option is Avira. But if you just want normal protection, then any of the three will do it for you.

For any spyware problems, get SpyBot – Search and Destroy:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

And for protecting your computer for malware or tracking cookies, use Ad-Aware 2008 Free Edition:

http://lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

All of them are free, as powerful as paid programs, like McAfee and Norton (which only has an 18% detection rate!), and don’t use up as many resources.
Just boot into Safe Mode (Press F8 when turning on the computer) and run full scans.

Hope that helps.

what kind of car audio system should i get?

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin

I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute and the CD player is jammed. I never bought a audio system before so i have no idea on what i need. If i purchase a new radio, do i need to get speakers too? Or what about sub-woofers? And where is a good place to get one and get it installed.

Replace the head unit with an Alpine system. Go to a retail store or car audio place, most of them will install the system for free if you buy from them. I would also replace the factory speaker currently in the car with a brand name like, JBL, JL Audio, Infinity, Rockford Fosgate and Alpine to name a few. You can add the sub woofer then or you can add it later on, again look for name brand.
Hope this will help you out.

I also don’t want to change the dashoard and I do have a 6 disc changer inside the center arm rest console. Would I be able to put the controller there? Thanks!

how loud u want to go?
4 ch. amp to power 2 new front speakers (or use 1 channel of the amp) and a sub in a slim box made for trucks… wedge box ported and tuned to your sub. go with a 10 at least.
