What is the best alarm system & monitoing for an apartment/townhome?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 by admin

My roommate live in a tri-level townhome that is about 1200 square feet. We are looking for an alarm system for our safety and peace of mind. I have been researching different options but I want opinions on the best system and monitoring options. We are two college girls who want to feel safe. Our area isn’t terrible, but lighting outside isn’t great and nearby complexes have break-ins. We have taken action such as keeping lights on and doors locked, but we want the extra piece of mind an alarm gives.

Any opinions and comments are appreciated!

ADT

my mom works for them. right now they are offering a $99.99 installation fee and everything is included with that. It is normally $800 or more for everything. They guard legal buildings such as the pentagon and the white house. We have one in our house and it works out great. It gives you a lot of piece of mind when you go out.

good luck

What is the best boiler system to install?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 by admin

There are so many differnt types of boiler, that it’s hard to know which one to go for… Also, is it cost-effective to have a hot water storage cylinder?

I can probably go along with Worcester Bosch, water storage is always more expensive than instantaneous hot water from a combi, but, the storage cylinders are very efficient now, and if you use a regular boiler, you can get a 300 litre cylinder which will run 2 baths simultaneously providing you have sufficient cold water pressure, (you cannot oversize your boiler, it is against regulations, and, condensing boilers optimise when working hard), combi boilers are dependent on water requirements also, any combi will run a standard heating system, but, if you want to be efficient, don’t go for the WB i junior, (no hot water temperature control), if you are out all day, and don’t use the bath a lot, use a WB 30si, if you use the bath and generally use a lot of hot water, use a WB cdi boiler, they go from 30kw (12.7 litres per min) to 42kw (18 litres per minute), in any event, only put a boiler in that is compatible with cold water delivery rate. Check the ample information at www.familygascare.co.uk (I work for them)

What are the advantages of VOIP over a normal home telephone system?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 by admin

I haven’t got much of an idea what I’m looking at, I need to buy a new phone for the house but I’ve seen some which are compatible with VOIP but are expensive, is it worth the extra money.

Any advice on the whole system would be great.

I currently have a BT line and service and Sky TV with broadband package. Most phone usage will be evenings and weekend.

You don’t need a VoIP compatible phone to use VoIP. You can use a regular telephone that plugs into a VoIP router. Most VoIP companies either charge very little for the router, or offer it free when you sign up for a plan.

One of the disadvantages of having a regular telephone plugged into a VoIP router is that it will be the only phone you can use. The fix for this is to get an expandable VoIP phone base. This is a VoIP phone with the router built in, and makes it possible for you to have multiple handsets throughout your home just like with a landline phone. This is why a VoIP compatible phone can be a bit costly.

There is a way to beat the high price of a VoIP compatible phone though. I highly recommend Packet8 since I use them for both my business phone, and residential. You have a choice to pay monthly, or yearly, and if you get an unlimited calling plan you can get a free VoIP compatible phone expandable up to 10 handsets, or an even nicer one for $19!

The biggest advantage of VoIP phone over a traditional landline is cost. Hands down. For example with Packet8’s Freedom Unlimited plan you can get unlimited local and long distance calling in the US,Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, France, Italy, Ireland, Spain and United Kingdom, plus unlimited in-network calling to other Packet8 subscribers worldwide for $24.99 a month

There are other VoIP phone services providers with even cheaper calling plans, but in my opinion Packet8 is the best value overall.

I want a stereo system that is loud, had a good bass and works with my laptop. A cheap one if possible. Can someone help?

This is a safe site, and always has the biggest selection, about 210 in all the price ranges.

What is the best impedance level for a home audio system’s speakers?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 by admin

I am thinking of getting a new home audio system, and I was wondering what I should look for in the impedance of my reciever’s output and speakers.

I know it’s measured in Ohms, usually 4,6, or 8, but which would give the best perfomance? I’m looking for the most accurate audio reproduction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I’m not looking to spend over $600 for the system. The best impedance rating withing this budget…

8 ohms is pretty much standard. 6 ohms is fine too. 4 ohm speakers will be easier to drive, but may cause some amplifiers to overheat…

how to make RCA interface surround sound system work with my computer?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 by admin

I have a somewhat old Monster surround sound system that has an RCA interface. I am about to move away to college, and would like to find a way to make it work with my desktop, but of course, my computer doesn’t put out RCA, but instead has the standard 3.5mm audio output sound card. what is the best way to make my sound system usable with my desktop without sacrificing any sound quality or directional sound?

Get a Male 3.5mm to Male RCA cable.(available at walmart ) You will still get stereo sound or any other analog signal (i.e.prologic II) and Will not notice a difference in sound quality. If the computer is more than 50′ away from where the receiver is i would suggest a higher quality cable due to signal loss, but for the cost of cable you could just get a different sound card with a digital output. Monoprice.com best pricing on everything you are looking for. p.s i did the same exact thing in college worked great for partys even at LOUD volume

What other systems work with the muscular system to keep the body working?

Posted on May 29th, 2010 by admin

I have a HUGE project in science where we have to study the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, blood, circulatory, endocrine, immune, and nervous systems! I need answers ASAP!

The muscle make the bones move. The nerves make the impulses so the muscle contracts. The circulatory brings the blood suply to bring the oxygen to make the cells work. The endocirne cells secreate the hormones that make the cell work. The Lympth takes the waste productes away.
