One alternative for those individuals who lost their jobs due to the recent economic recession is to change careers from the one they used to have. As we’ve learned here, jobs in the healthcare industry will continue to flourish, unaffected by the state of the economy. Since the only requirement to be a medical assistant is a high school diploma, you can start working immediately and receive your medical assistant salary if you can find an employer willing to hire you. As medical assistants’ tasks and responsibilities become more complex, different State pharmacy boards will soon, surely require all medical assistants to be formally trained and certified first before they can work.
