I have a 2002 Mazda Tribute and the CD player is jammed. I never bought a audio system before so i have no idea on what i need. If i purchase a new radio, do i need to get speakers too? Or what about sub-woofers? And where is a good place to get one and get it installed.

Replace the head unit with an Alpine system. Go to a retail store or car audio place, most of them will install the system for free if you buy from them. I would also replace the factory speaker currently in the car with a brand name like, JBL, JL Audio, Infinity, Rockford Fosgate and Alpine to name a few. You can add the sub woofer then or you can add it later on, again look for name brand.

I am thinking of getting a new home audio system, and I was wondering what I should look for in the impedance of my reciever’s output and speakers.

I know it’s measured in Ohms, usually 4,6, or 8, but which would give the best perfomance? I’m looking for the most accurate audio reproduction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I’m not looking to spend over $600 for the system. The best impedance rating withing this budget…

8 ohms is pretty much standard. 6 ohms is fine too. 4 ohm speakers will be easier to drive, but may cause some amplifiers to overheat…

I have an 04 muatang with a mach system and I want better sounding audio. No, I don’t want to drive around playing bass tracks that register on a seismograph. I just want a decent sound that is clear, not raspy or "high-pass" at any volume, and has decent AND resonable bass response. Should I just get new speakers or something else?

First…I’d suggest you check out this site…and go through what fits my car:

Even if you don’t buy from them, it’ll tell you what you can do! Now that that is out of the way, I’d still suggest a total revamp of the system, A new Radio ( with Ipod control), all new Speakers, and 1 small sub…OK I know you don’t want to entertain everyone, and believe me my days for doing that are long over as well. Use a small 4 channel amp on the speakers ( like a 40 or 50watt RAMS) and a Mono channel 100 watt on a single 12 inch Sub…or go with one of the Vehicle specific sub/amp packages. It’ll sound great!!

-I suggest Kenwood speakers…since you can go with 6×8s in the front and back, and Sony Radio/AMps. If you want to keep the factory radio, then Kenwood speakers, and a line level amp/sub kit.

I heard I could use a capacitor but is there any other options?
I dont want this system routed straight to the battery so I dont get a possible battery drainage. I need something that could be an intermediate between the battery and the audio/tv system.

purify is correct. Caps won’t help. A bigger battery and a bigger alternator is all you can do.

A more complicated solution is a second battery and second alternator, with a longer belt to drive both. If you can find room for it.

Hey, I just got a new car and am looking to put a cheap but good audio system in it with subwoofers, amplifier, and speakers. I was wondering wide a guide online is it really hard? Also is it cheap if I take it to a shop to get it done? And could any recommend a good but cheap audio system for a car?

its a lot more simple then you think, You basically attach 1 wire to your car battery and 3 to your cd player. The hardest part is hiding all the wires .

and a cheap and powerful sub would be a fusion or something along those lines. They offer a lot of bass and decent quality.

and it wouldn’t be too expensive to take it to a shop if you didn’t want 2 do it yourself

I just got a nissan altima 2002 and i want to install an audio system,a sub, and speaker that i could blast my music?
What is you guys best advices for me?

Your system won’t mean squat without a well designed box to put your subs in. Some manufacturers have recommendations as to dimensions of various types of boxes. It is best to find someone who builds boxes if you go with something other than a sealed box.

You should always match up RMS (Root Mean Square) watts of Subs and amp per channel as well as impedance’s(resistances).

If your amp is rated at 4? don’t subject it to 2?, it will fry.

Here is the formula for subs in parallel:

Z = 1 / (1/sub1 + 1/sub2 + 1/sub3 + ….)

For series, just add them up (sub1 + sub2 + …).

You can mix and match these equations to get the right impedance required by your amp.

Example: 4 subs @ 4? each. If I connect two in parallel and the other two in parallel and tie the two pairs in series, I would have a total impedance(resistance) of 4?. So to the amp, it’s just one sub.

You should use a capacitor as well.

Recommend for every 500 watts MAX you use a .5 Farad cap
Example: 1000 watts MAX – 1 Farad cap

You will also need what’s called a "line level converter" if your stock head unit doesn’t have RCA outputs or your amp doesn’t have high-level inputs.

My amp is 1200 watts, subs are 600 watts each, cap is 1.2 Farad

SPL is about 112 db
