Right now, I have my surround sound system hooked up to my Xbox 360… but that doesn’t play my burned discs… but my really cheap DVD player reads them… how do I hook up the surround system to the DVD player, do I need a fancy cord? the Xbox came with the cord and all I had to do was plug it in, this is now getting way too complicated for me to figure out. any suggestions would be appreciated, and if you need me to elaborate…. tell me what you need to know.
it is a boston digital surround sound set and a panisonic DVD-S1 player.
where do I get these cables, radio shack?
If you are just playing burned DVD’s, then you can connect RCA cables (red and white) from the output of the DVD player to the input of the receiver.
If you are looking for digital surround sound from movies, you will need a digital cable, coax or optical. If the DVD player is cheap, you might just have coax.
Radio Shack or any other electronic store will have av cables, you only need 2 connectors, red and white, not 3 (red, white and yellow).

Connect the red and white cables to the red and white of your the Audio out of your DVD player and the other end to the red and white on the dvd in on your receiver.
I wasn’t able to find boston digital, could the receiver be a Boston Acoustic, and if so what model #? if you still need help
Can I run my dvd player to my tv via hdmi and than my tv to my receiver and play the sound from my dvd player to the surround that way? I am so lost… My surround sound system is an onkyo ht-s990thx 7.1 and my tv is a mitsubishi 1080p and my dvd player is a sony.
If your Sony DVD player has HDMI output, then yes, connect it to the TV’s HDMI input.
You didn’t say what model DVD player you have, but it probably doesn’t include audio in the HDMI output. For that you need a separate digital audio cable, which you’ll connect from the DVD player to the Onkyo receiver, not the TV.
There are two kinds of digital audio connections, optical and coaxial. Depending on what kind of output your DVD player has, you’ll need either a TOSlink optical cable or an RCA coaxial cable.
Using this cable, connect the DVD player’s digital audio output to the Onkyo receiver’s digital audio input (the Onkyo has both types). These cables are cheap, less than $5.
Then you’ll have great picture and sound, although you’ll have to switch the Onkyo to the correct audio input to hear the DVD audio.
Rocketfish Wireless Rear Speaker System
allows you to send a wireless signal from a sender unit connected to your receiver to your rear satellite speakers. Gives you full surround sound w/out running wires all over the place. The front speakers connect to receiver as normal. The rear speakers connect to the sender unit and transmit the signal to the rear via a receiver which connects to your rear speakers. It’s not “true” wireless, but it’s pretty close. It keeps you from having to run wires from your receiver to the rear satellites.
Recommend: You may need to purchase add’l speaker wire. The included wires are short and may not reach to your desired location

Ok so I got this home theater system and I can’t figure out how to get my xbox 360 to get surround sound on it. I plugged my 360 into the VCR in jacks on the system but it only plays in 2 channel. The Model number is MRD510 so yeah I don’t know if anyone else has this surround system or not. So it’s probably a piece of shit that I’ll have to return to target disgruntled. But yeah any help would be appreciated. ALSO I did do a tone test every speaker works it just doesn’t do six channel in aux so if there is something I did wrong (besides buy the damn thing) then I’d appreciate any help fixing it. Ok thanks.
Well if your Home Theater System has an optical plug on the back, all you do is just get a Digital Optical plug to plug into your XBOX 360 to the system. But I do think that it won’t work on a AUX source. I tried looking up your model number and came up with nothing.
Is it a 6.1, 7.1 receiver? Sometimes the older ones don’t contain true capable 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. How long have you had this system?
Logitech sent me a new system after the previous one broke when one of my friends borrowed it, absolutely great company. I’ve redone the unboxing in 1080p with my new Canon HFS10 camera – unboxing of that coming soon too!
Enjoy!

This is for a secondary tv that has an xbox 360, and dvd player hooked up to it. I want to be able to hook all these up and use the surround for watching tv too. IT doesnt have to be the best, just a pretty good system that will work with everying.
In that price range you should look for inputs and outputs as the deciding factor, you will get mediorce sound from a such a system.
